A Quietened Mind to Being Enlightened

Written by Mathew Naismith

Three consecutive quotes came to me recently which impact on each other, it's like a three step description on how to become the observer, a more enlightened (awake) consciousness from an unenlightened state of consciousness. The trick is, is not to try to become enlightened but to release yourself from an unenlightened state of consciousness without intentions or taking action.

Step 1: Obtain a quiet mind through being aware that every time we react to another conscious source, we create more ripples within this consciousness which only feeds the controlling ego to become even more controlling. The ripples within consciousness represent a chaotic effect which the ego feeds from.

You might think it's not easy to quieten the mind but it is, all you need to do is realise every time you react, you are feeding the ego which causes more ripples within consciousness itself.  It's all about being aware of the effects of what our actions and intentions have on consciousness. All actions and intentions are ego driven, be aware of how controlling the ego is when being expressive of such actions and intentions.

Step 2: This should be an automatic response from quietening the mind, once we learn to quieten the mind, we automatically express more inactions, this in turn quells the chaos within consciousness. Harmony is an expression of inactions and is counter productive to creating chaos.

Step 3: Once step 1 and 2 are accomplished, we again automatically become the observer and once we become the observer, we begin to release ourselves quite automatically from an unenlightened state of consciousness. This takes no actions or intentions at all to reach this state. You might think you have intentions of quietening the mind but all you are doing is releasing yourself from an unenlightened state, all this takes is to let go of the controlling factors of the ego. This is being your true self which has always existed, this takes no actions or intentions except just being the truer you.

To get a better picture of this, look at consciousness as a body of water that is being influenced by chaos, a movement that creates ripples, now stop all movement (actions and reactions of the ego, you will now notice the body of water is calm and tranquil once again, this body of water now represents your truer self. You are not taking actions through intentions but are now being inactive through releasing yourself from the controlling factors of the ego.

If you have intention of quietening the mind, you might experience a bit of step 2 but you won't go on and experience step three. The trick is to just let go of actions and intentions and be your truer self again, a calm tranquil body of water (consciousness).

I should point out that all unenlightened states of consciousness express ego traits, this is perfectly natural, it's even natural to express a totally controlling ego, nothing of consciousness is unnatural even though the controlling ego tries to convince us otherwise. If we truly want, or more precisely need, to change a conscious reality, all we need to do is become aware of how consciousness behaves when stimulated or influenced by movement (actions and intentions). Yes, it is this simple!!

An Enlightened Consciousness

Written by Mathew Naismith

This is a topic I have been quite reluctant to write about and share for various reasons, if we are too fixated to our own consciousness, trying to understand another quite different consciousness is going to be nearly impossible, this I feel is due to relating how other consciousness's exist in comparison to our own consciousness. It is obvious a small minority of people are going to relate to what I am about to write, this is due to the fact that I wouldn't write about such  topics otherwise, that is the way consciousness works. The two conscious states I'm going to discuss here are enlightened/aware states and unenlightened/unaware states of consciousness.

We are obviously in an unenlightened state and in this state we perceive how another far more aware (awoken) state of consciousness exists, the accuracy of our perception within this consciousness obviously isn't going to be spot on or precise, basically all what most of us can do is presume.

Dream States: When we are asleep, we are at most unaware of our environment we are asleep in, many things occur around us that we are quite unaware of until we reawaken, in other words enlighten our selves of our surroundings again when we awaken. A totally enlightened/aware state works in the same way except in this state we are aware of all of what is instead of being just aware of what's occurring in our dreams and our immediate environment. Actually a lot of us are not even aware of their dreams when  in a dream state.

An unenlightened state for an enlightened consciousness is like what we experience in a dream state, in other words we are obviously unenlightened within this reality so we are in a dream state of consciousness, this is where the similarities between an unenlightened state and an enlightened state occur. We to our enlightened selves, our inner self, look at what we are experiencing as a dream. One of the major dissimilarities between the enlightened self and the unenlightened self is there are no nightmares within a truly enlightened state.  To many of us we are suffering and entrapped within a reality of no free will or choice, to us this would have to be a nightmare to our enlightened self but it's not.

I should point out hear that an unenlightened state refers to a dream like state where you are not aware of everything in the environment you are in, in other words dream states refer to an unenlightened state, an unaware state of consciousness.

Extreme Reactions: Love, hate, pain, ecstasy an so on take on a different meaning within an enlightened state,  we perceive, while fixated to an unenlightened state, that these emotions are the same or simular to an enlightened state but there not. If you take the ego out of the equation, you take all extreme reactions out of an experience/reality, this makes a huge difference to the way we exist and perceive within such realties. How would you react if you had your ideologies and spiritual practices taken away from you? Most people would freak, they couldn't handle this because of the extreme affect this would have upon them, the ego just can't handle what it judges as extreme, it would be a nightmare to the ego. Now take away the extreme reactions of the ego, the nightmare just doesn't occur.

To a totally harmonious enlightened state, nightmares are an impossibility, they just can't occur mainly because of their harmonious state of existence brought about by being greatly aware. Like in our own dreams, this reality is a dream to our enlightened self, how aware are we, in our unenlightened state, of this dream that our enlightened self is having while we are dreaming? We are no more aware than when we are in a dream state ourselves but this isn't the case with our enlightened self. What I am saying is, this unenlightened state is not a nightmare to our enlightened self even though most of us would think it would have to be.

The reason for this is simple, it is impossible for an enlightened state to express extreme emotions controlled by the ego, this is due to the ego being unable to take control of an enlightened consciousness creating dramas/chaos through  extreme emotions and subsequent nightmares and misery.

It's going to be virtually impossible for a number of people to realise that our enlightened self can't see this reality as a nightmare, an entrapment brought about by being in an unenlightened state, a dream state in other words. How many people see this dream state, this reality, as a nightmare? Well it's not, not to our enlightened selves.

The Observer: OBE's, out of body experiences, show us a little of what our enlighten self observes while our physical minds are asleep, we become aware of our immediate environment and any other environment we enter into while experiencing an OBE. In this state we are still unenlightened to our enlightened self but we are more aware than if our physical minds were just dreaming. We can while in this state observe our body while it's asleep, we have at this stage become an observer and this is the point of an enlightened self, become the observer instead of just being the observed.

An enlightened self just doesn't refer to a totally awakened state of consciousness, it refers to being an observer. What happens when you meditate or go into a tranquil environment, we feel a lot better within ourselves, this is because we have become the observer. Prior meditating, instead of being influenced by the mind, we in a sense observe or become aware of the activity of the mind to shut it down, this gives us a feeling of tranquillity. When we change our environment to a more harmonious environment, what are we doing?  We observe or become aware of such an environment which makes us feel good and the more in-depth the observation is the better we feel, we become the observer.

Is our enlightened self observing it's own dream state like when we experience an OBE? Yes, this is because it's observing all of what it is unlike our unenlightened selves that can only observe a little of it's whole self.

Wouldn't experiencing or observing a chaotic reality like this one make our enlightened self feel bad? No, we in our unenlightened state are not in a state of consciousness that is harmonious but our enlightened self is, observing such chaotic realities has no affect upon the enlightened self.

This means if this reality is a nightmare to you, you are not being a true observer but an observed that unknowingly creates such nightmares by expressing extreme reactions, in other words you are the cause of the effect of the nightmare. Remember, the enlightened self cannot experience nightmares itself  mainly because it's the observer not the observed. What it does do is allow it's dream state, it's unenlightened state which we are a part of, express such straits through it's unawakened state, in this state our unenlightened self becomes the observed. All this means is, as soon a you become the observed, you create nightmares, this reality is a very good example of this.

The enlightened self means it's an awakened consciousness to it's self, the observer not the observed or a dream state, an unawakened self to itself.

Sorry if this is too ambiguous, this is the best I can do at this time.

The Observing Consciousness

Written By Mathew Naismith

This is why I love other people’s perspective; I found the following statement quite interesting especially in relation to what it was pertaining too.

“There is no god but man. Humanity fails Humanity through conditioning.”

An interesting perspective.

This depends on what we deem as God, the God of man in a religious sense to me is saying man is inferior to an observer, a creator we call God, why are we inferior to something deemed as being divine? Ignorance, I feel if we weren’t so ignorant to our own divine nature, we would realise we are this God.

In my early days I experienced ghosts on a number of occasions so a consciousness exists beyond our state of ignorance for me without a doubt, now we are only talking about a conscious entity that still has fixations to realities of duality, what would conscious entities beyond realities of duality seem like to  ignorant beings? To anything ignorant, these aware and enlightened entities will seem divine and that is fair enough except ignorance is obviously destructive. We can’t keep endlessly destroying so we need to become aware of our own true nature which to me is of this consciousness beyond our ignorance we call God.

To me God isn’t a man or some kind of being/entity, God is a conscious state void of ignorance, concepts and beliefs, anything like this is going to seem divine to anything ignorant to its true nature for a very good reason.

Why do I think we are this God? Ghosts who still have attachments to realities of duality become the observer to a certain extent; now what would an observer who has no such attachments observe? Probably the entirety of all of what is, being an observer also means to be aware through observation. How many times do our guides/ past loved one’s try to influence us and do most often influence us?  At this point we are still only talking about an entity that still has attachments to realities of duality, how would a consciousness beyond attachments (duality) influence us?

In simple terms, I think God is an observer; it’s a consciousness beyond any kind of ignorance or attachments, the point is we can all become this observer, this consciousness beyond ignorance and attachments.  To any consciousness living in ignorance, is this observer going to seem divine?  It’s undoubtedly quite expected.

If we think on this, what do scientist do? They firstly observe and then they secondly become aware and thirdly often manipulate or influence what they firstly observed, this is man being God through simple observations. Now through these simple observations what has man manipulated/ influenced around him? This manipulation/influencing through observation are on very tiny scale especially when compared to the rest of the universe, what would an observing consciousness observing the universe as a whole manipulate/influence?

In psychology and spirituality, we are often taught to become the observer, how often do psychologists and spiritualists manipulate/influence other people and environment? Doctors and nurses are another good example of this. The point is, to one extent or another we are observers, the less of an observer you are, the less you will become aware of and the less manipulative/influential you will be. God to me is just an observing consciousness way beyond our ignorant understanding.  Would Neanderthals see us as God’s? Most probably, how we can create fire in so many ways would absolutely flaw them for starters, would we not ourselves be flawed by a much more aware conscious observer? It was inevitable we were going to go down this road, is it a bad or good thing that we define this more aware conscious observer as a divine being?

The problem in idolising something more aware than ourselves, is we will never see ourselves as this more aware observer, this can become quite destructive if we don’t become aware of ourselves being this observer ,remembering, there is truly only one consciousness as all consciousness is interconnected.  Ghosts are a good example of this interconnectedness, even when someone passes on (dies) they are still expressing a form of consciousness, they are still very much connected.

There is however a very good point to idolising, it’s a good sign we have become aware of a more aware observing consciousness, all we need to do with this awareness is act on it, know that we are ourselves observers and the more aware we become of being an observer, the more of an observer we will be.

So why doesn’t this conscious observer we call God influence us to become more constructive, why doesn’t this conscious observer save us from ourselves, our own ignorance?

Not all observing consciousness’s influence their environment, when observing a park or beautiful scenery, do we always influence what we observe?  In a peaceful state of tranquillity it is unlikely we will influence anything we are observing even if it’s destructive and chaotic like man, being void of attachments, concepts and beliefs is being in a pure tranquil state. Now it’s unlikely this pure tranquil state of consciousness is going to influence the course of man unless it’s in a very subtle way.  This is like going to a park and observing there is rubbish on the ground, when we pick this rubbish up and throw it in the bin, we are subtly influencing through our own observations.

I certainly don’t believe in the wrath of God, no tranquil consciousness is going to express any form of wrath, we can however influence our own environment to the extent it reacts in a violent way thus we have the wrath of God.  This makes perfect sense because being observers ourselves; we are indeed acting like God’s, in a sense, we are causing our own wrath upon ourselves thus we have the wrath of God/God’s.

Our conditioning in being the idoliser has kept us being no more of an observer than we were thousands of years ago, however, science has proven we can indeed be of this consciousness we call God, all we have to do now is realise there is no limit to our own observations.  Like I said in previous posts, all ideological concepts and beliefs are worthy as they are all a part of the same jigsaw, the same exact big picture. Religion gives us a clue and so does science to our true nature, all one has to do is see where these ideological concepts and beliefs fit within each other to create the bigger picture. Once we see the bigger picture, we become a much bigger observer and so on it goes.

The Inner Self-The Observer

Written by Mathew Naismith

I’ve had some interesting physical occurrences happen to me recently , it seems to have everything to do with synchronicity, however, this post isn’t about such occurrence but what these occurrences have made me aware of recently.  Synchronistic moments like this aren’t all to do with the experiences from the moment we experience the synchronicity, they can be about what we are going to become aware of because of such experiences.  If we allow it, each experience allows us to build upon an awareness that at the present moment we might not be aware of but become aware of in another present movement.

Another present moment isn’t in the future, it’s all in the now, however, because we exist in time, each moment is separated by time making it another present movement even though it’s only of the now.  If everything was truly of the now in time, we would know all there is to know right now in the present movement, this of course isn’t the case in time, how many of us are aware of everything within it’s totality right now?  This is where I think synchronicity comes into it, it gives us more synchronicity with the present moment, the now, by allowing us to become aware of things in the present moment.

I wasn’t clear until recently what my life has been about, well up to this extent anyway.  I had a choice in my mid-teens if I was going to take the spiritual path of awareness or the ignorant path of just being humanly expressive, I took the latter.  Now up to this point I could ask any question and get an immediate correct answer, I was pretty well connected.

At this stage in my mid-teens it was obvious, to me now, that I did not judge that living in ignorance was any better or worse than a life of spiritual awareness, I did not judge one being better above the other.  Living in this ignorant state wasn’t a problem for me because I didn’t judge one path being better or worse than the other, it was simply just another path.

The interesting thing was, when I made this decision I had a chronic injury with an associated chronic pain, I knew if I followed a spiritual path of awareness, this would greatly help me with my physical and mental traumas but I still chose a life of ignorance. The strange thing is I didn’t have much of a problem in choosing life of ignorance even though I would be expressing the ego in every sense to some extent.  See the thing is I never judged the ego or judgement itself as being bad or negative in some way; it was just another path one can follow.

The strangest thing is what I was aware of in my mid-teens stayed with me, once aware always aware or once reconnected always reconnected.  Being reconnected of course isn’t what is really happening because we never really became disconnected in the first place; the feeling of becoming reconnected is due to our ignorance of our true nature.

Even though I chose a life of ignorance from always being connected, by becoming aware of my connectedness in my mid-teens helped me with my traumas right through my life.  This was all due to not deciding to follow the path of spiritual awareness, my ego wanted me to follow this path because it made more sense but I didn’t. You could say that by following a spiritual path of awareness instead of ignorance would have improved on my own life immensely, that of course was obvious to me at the time but what was also obvious is I had no judgment of one path being any less worthy to follow than a much easier path.

What this has given me is at the human level of perception, is I don’t truly see anything else being any less worthy than something else seemingly more positive, this sort of judgment doesn’t come into it.  You could say if I followed the spiritual path of awareness that I would have been still humanly perceptive, however, I knew that wasn’t going to be the case even at that time in my mid-teens.

If I followed the spiritual path of awareness at the moment in my life I could only perceive through spiritual perspectives, this would have totally taken away how I perceive humanly. What actually happened was, because I was already aware of my connectedness I perceived through both human and spiritual perspectives, however, this took me to decide to live a life of trauma in my mid-teens.

When I write about being of fewer intentions, or like in my last post saying that ignorance is just as important to our selves (souls) as awareness, many people can’t see this mainly because they have judged ignorance or the lack of intentions as being negative or bad in some way.  Because I have done what I did in my mid-teens, I don’t have such judgment, this I believe is due to being able to perceive both humanly and spiritually.  I’m not being egotistical here, all I did is go with the flow of the path I chose.

Is bettering yourself through becoming more aware than before more positive?  Most people will say yes for the obvious reasons, we are more positive and in a much better state, better than what though?  Better than before, but isn’t this a high level of judgment, isn’t this putting one state of existence over and above another?  The funny thing is I realised I recently don’t do this except when I’m only perceiving through a human perspective which I don’t judge as being one thins or the other in itself.

In a human perspective, improving on one’s life has always been better and positive but this entails a high level of judgment and putting one kind of existence or path above another, we still have our levels of superiority.

How do we get around this?

I know there are a lot of people who are not going to like what I’m about to say, it all comes down to intentions, try not to have intentions especially active intentions while becoming aware by not seeing that you are improving or bettering yourself, in other words don’t have the intentions of improving yourself in any sense of the word, just let it all flow, go with the flow no matter what your ego wants.  The ego loves intentions because it’s all about intentions, think on this for a moment, in every action and thought the ego has intentions.

We can however choose to be expressive of passive or active intentions if we need to have intentions, the controlling ego is certainly more about active intentions, this doesn’t mean we should have intentions in trying to be more passive, we should in my mind avoid even passive intentions if possible.

Passive intentions = passive actions and thoughts + judgement + living for needs and desires

Active intentions = forceful actions and thoughts + judgmental + living for desires

No intentions = no intentional actions and thoughts + no judgment + living for only a need

So how do we express no intentions?

When I perceive through my human self, I express intentions, usually passive intentions but at times active intention, this is due to not judging one being less worthy than another, however, when I perceive through my inner self I don’t seem to have intentions. This is mainly due to not judging one life experience or path being less worthy than another.  Lessoning intention has to me everything to do with not judging any part of life any more or less worthy than another; my inner self just doesn’t judge in such ways, it observes instead.

What’s the good of observing if we haven’t got an intention to implement such observation?

Just by observing through the inner self is enough, just through being the observer one will make changes quite automatically without intentions. Allowing your human self to become the observer through the inner self however is an expression of passive intentions; in this case we have an intention to allow our human self to observe. If we only perceive through the human self and are in judgment, we will need to still express intentions, try being aware of your passive and active intentions while remembering that the ego is all about active intentions.

Humanly it comes down we have to express intentions either we choose to express these intentions in a passive or active way is up to each individual, however, I think it wise to be aware that the ego is about active intentions. My advice is; if you can’t observe through the inner self try being only expressive of passive intentions, this will at least get us away from the controlling factors of the ego.

Preconceptions, Not at All Helpful

Written by Mathew Naismith

Recently I inserted an image, shown below, on a sort of science minded community, this image and the attached message got quite a response as you could imagine. What I didn’t expect, to such a huge degree, was the aggressive response I got and how some people had preconceptions about such an image shown on their community.

A lot of these people had a preconceived idea of me already as I have posted on this site a number of times before. I did however think they would see the actual message in this image but because of their preconceived ideologies of spiritually aware people they totally missed this message.

What happened was they first focused on the message itself after obviously taking notice of the image; it made no sense to them that if someone couldn’t perceive evil how they wouldn’t see evil. My argument was of course how would anyone who didn’t know what evil was or couldn’t perceive evil see evil!!  This made no sense to them except for a few people.  I should say here that the post was liked by five members of this community and two of these five people shared the said image.

The next thing they focused on was the word evil itself, which in this case was an obvious metaphor because you could quite easily replace evil with bad or negative for example. They couldn’t again see this because of the preconceptions they had about me and the post image showing what they deemed as Lucifer and Jesus battling it out.  It would seem that is all they could see.

Being logically minded people, you would have thought they would have loved this because in a way it was showing how some spiritually aware people demonise traits like the ego which shows they are of this evil intent in away but they didn’t, they seemed to totally miss this.

The message actually had a double meaning, depending on the way we perceive what the image was depicting. These people, sadly enough, took it as Lucifer and Jesus fighting for control but like some other spiritually people pointed out, it’s two polarities or opposing forces coming together as one to give balance which was represented by the clenching of hands. Perceiving the image like this changed the meaning of the message underneath to perceiving no evil, there can’t be any perception of evil once two become one in unison.

Becoming the observer, especially through psychological understanding, gives one a weird picture of not just oneself but everyone, everyone’s short falls popup.  One should be aware, while being an observer, not to actually judge but observe. How can one observe and not judge in some way? This is simple, don’t see a wrong or right within others and especially yourself while observing yourself and also see everyone of being of you. You are actually only observing one person in it’s many different forms. Being aware of our many different forms isn’t judgement and it certainly not destructive judgement but just being aware through observation of all ourselves.

Some of the behaviour I observed was from my other selves seemed quite unbecoming to me but it wasn’t wrong, actually they displayed quite understandable reaction towards me.  I suppose we could do without the cussing and name calling, I’ve never been called autistic before, that’s a first, it’s usually liar, delusional, dumb etc. which they also used  but never  autistic before. Are my other selves wrong in doing this? It doesn’t show much intelligence and it’s not polite but it’s not wrong especially when you take into consideration I was an obvious threat to my other selves in some way otherwise they wouldn’t have reacted in this way.

To me it’s important to be aware of my other selves; spiritually awareness after all is about being aware, how else can I help my other selves!!   Did I help them?  Psychologically looking at this, yes I would say I did, maybe not consciously to them but certainly subconsciously. The reason I think this is because of their interactions within me and their actions against me, the unbecoming behaviour was actually a good sign that I was hitting a nerve which the subconscious will think on unbeknownst to their conscious selves.  Most people will just look at this behaviour as either wrong and/or unbecoming but actually it was a very good response.

Preconceptions aren’t just of the domain of science, it’s in everything we feel, think and do no matter what ideological view we abide by. We are very good at predetermining with very little awareness and is a typical human trait that we need to be aware can be quite disruptive and destructive if not checked.  The best way is to believe it just is what it is at this present within our understanding and that there could be something more.

This brings me to preconceiving while only deductively reasoning. Deductive reasoning used on it’s own will give us predetermining factors however if we used adductive or inductive reasoning with deductive reasoning the predetermining factors is diminished because these two reasoning process give us theories to look further beyond a predetermined factor.  My other selves on this site seem to only use deductive reasoning so how were they going to understand me in what I was saying which they obviously didn’t?

It is good to be aware of this if we want to help others not of our own frequencies, if not,  it’s a good idea to just believe it just is what it is at this present within our understanding, nothing else…

PS I should also say, by helping others out I am helping myself out as well, this discussion made me a fair bit more aware of my other selves which can only be a good thing….

Consciousness of God-The Observer

Written by Mathew Naismith

I know the people who aren’t into the word God, or what it represents to some people, aren’t going to be happy with my use of this word but I can’t please everyone. The reason I used God in this post is because most people around the world relate to this expression of a higher consciousness and to be of a higher consciousness one needs to be the observer.  This of course doesn’t mean all observers are God’s, it just means when we become the observer of either just ourselves and/or the collective we become connected more to our divine selves and God/the source I believe.

In our everyday lives with our everyday attachments, it’s very hard to become the observer of oneself and especially of others and the collective; this is why I think we feel so detached at times.  We are caught up in the dramas of life instead of the connectedness to God, the source of creation; the best way to reconnect ourselves is through becoming an observer.

The following links I thought was typically showing how becoming an observer can connect us better to each other, the collective and to God.

Exstract
Being the witness or observer is a divine position. The formless God is the observer of all that happens, through each pair of eyes, through each and every set of senses. All is only experienced by the One, the only Doer. It is the One who samples life just as it is the One who meets the One in the experience of enlightenment that represents the culminating event of all our lives, up till that point.
So being the observer is being my Divine Self and is a practice much encouraged in spiritual circles.

The following link is more into the physics side of being an observer.

To become an observer one has to seem to be detached to whatever they are observing, if you can’t do this you can’t become an observer.  So becoming detached this would mean we become less emotional? Yes but don’t mistake fewer emotions means being non-empathetic, because you become more aware you become more empathic, this is due to dropping of our attachments to life itself as it plays out.  Most human emotions are due to attachments of one kind or another and of course attachments denote ego, I understand God’s consciousness doesn’t have an ego. This is why God is a very good observer, there are no ego driven emotions just empathy.

Practice observing yourself while at play by visualising yourself actually observing yourself and after a while do the same with others and eventually you will become an observer of the collective by visualising looking at the earth for instance.  Once you become the observer of the collective, you will laugh your head off.   How could anyone laugh their heads off when there is so much chaos and hurt going on?  Two reasons; one, we have become unattached to life itself, two, the answer to our dilemmas is so easy it’s hilarious, become an observer and drop all attachments that cause so much chaos and do us so much harm.  Also take note of the first link I supplied here, once an emotional occurrence was observed all what one could do then is laugh at the little things. Life is a little thing compared to the whole conscious collective, which is why you will laugh!!
